Career Technical Education Class Descriptions

INFORMATION TECH SPECIALIST - The Information Technology Specialist (prerequisite) course helps students understand technical concepts underlying current and future developments in the information technology field.

 

NETWORK CABLING - Network Cabling (prerequisite)This course will apply and expand critical concepts needed to analyze customers’ organizational needs, blueprint reviews, and application of audio/video cabling

 

CYBER SECURITY - The Cybersecurity Fundamentals Course will provide learners with principles of data and technology that frame

and define cybersecurity.

 

RECYCLING LIVES - This course will provide adult learners with the principles of the recycling process, including entrepreneurship and business fundamentals. Students will learn goal setting, resource allocation, organizational structure, and management techniques in the Business Management Pathway. Students will prepare to be certified in forklift driving, standing forklift, walk-behind forklift, and safety certificates.

 

TEACHER ASSISTANT - This course is designed to assist high school graduate students become effective paraprofessionals. The course will explore the proper techniques to ensure a productive relationship between the teacher aide, the

teacher, and the student in the classes taught by the teacher and assisted by the aide. This class prepares students to take the Paraprofessional Exam as a culminating activity. Students will have theory and classroom experience before taking the paraprofessional exam.

 

CULINARY BEGINNING ART PROGRAM - This course introduces food service career opportunities and requires mastery of entry-level skills, knowledge, and professional attitude/etiquette relating to food preparation and service. The course includes instruction in food production, baking, garde manger, food safety, nutrition, dining room service and special event planning, career awareness and employability skills, use and care of equipment, workplace safety, menu planning, storeroom/inventory procedures, POS system; facility maintenance; and food service management.

 

CULINARY ADVANCED ARTS PROGRAM - This course will expand on the understanding and application of the principles, techniques, and standards related to food production. Prerequisite for course enrollment: successful completion of the Beginning Culinary Art Program.
