Information for all students who will complete all of the Kern High School District
high school credit requirements by June 1, 2018:
GRADUATION PETITION: During the quarter when you believe you will complete all graduation
requirements, ask for a graduation petition form from the Front Office or Counseling Office, fill out
both sides completely and turn it in at the Front Office.
SCHOLARSHIP: If you are interested in applying for a scholarship to use for higher education,
please contact the Counseling office staff for information.
DIPLOMAS: Please pick up your diploma in the front office mid-week after the end of the quarter
when you finish all grad requirements. You will need to show your photo ID to receive the diploma.
BAS has a very nice graduation ceremony prepared and presented for our adult students.
We want to celebrate your accomplishment with you and encourage you to partcipate in it!
If you plan to participate in the graduation ceremony, please read carefully through the following information:
PHOTO OF YOU: Upon completing all credits, go to the Counseling office, Room 508, to have your photo taken. A slide show is created with the photos and is presented for your family and friends before the ceremony begins. All photos need to be taken before Tuesday, May 22nd.
CAP AND GOWN: All students who participate in the commencement ceremony must wear a royal blue cap, gown and tassel. Cost for these is $27.50. Purchase from Herff Jones using
Order Form you receive from BAS. Your order will be mailed to your address by Herff Jones.
(If you purchase after April 15, you will need to pick up your order from the store.)

STUDENT SPEAKERS: If you are interested in auditioning to be a student speaker at the
graduation ceremony, please contact the Counseling office for information.
The application must be in to Sandra Paz, Room 507, by April 26, 2018.
GRADUATION DATE: Friday, June 1, 2018, 6:00 p.m.
Students must report to the Bakersfield High School cafeteria no later than 5:15 p.m.
PLACE: Harvey Auditorium, on the Bakersfield High School campus, 1241 “G” Street.

REHEARSAL: Wednesday, May 30, 6:30 p.m. Report to the BHS cafeteria.
All students participating in the commencement ceremony on June 1st will be expected to
attend rehearsal. Any problems/concerns—Please speak to the Registrar.
TICKETS for Family/Friends: Students will receive 6 tickets each. Each student will receive the tickets at the rehearsal. Some extra tickets will be available—info given at Rehearsal.
NOTE: NO BALLOONS OR NOISEMAKERS ARE ALLOWED IN THE HARVEY AUDITORIUM
