2016-2017 Graduation Commencement

Students who will complete all of the Kern High School District high school credit requirements
by June 2, 2017: From the staff at Bakersfield Adult School, CONGRATULATIONS!

We encourage you to participate in the BAS Commencement Ceremony—see information below.

Please come to the BAS main office and pick up your diploma. They are available the week after the quarter you finished in. If you plan to participate in the ceremony, please tell the front office staff.

Please carefully read through this commencement information:

WHEN: Friday, June 2, 2017, 7:00 p.m. Students must report to the Bakersfield High School
cafeteria no later than 6:15 p.m.

WHERE: Harvey Auditorium, on the Bakersfield High School campus, 1241 “G” Street.
If you are interested in being a commencement speaker, please contact the Counselor,
Sandra Paz, at 396-4423.

REHEARSAL: Wednesday, May 31, 6:30 p.m. Report to the BHS cafeteria.
All students participating in the commencement ceremony on June 2nd will be expected to
attend rehearsal.

TICKETS: Students will receive 6 tickets each. Each student will receive the tickets at the rehearsal. Info will be given at rehearsal regarding any extra tickets available.

CAP AND GOWN: All students who participate in the commencement ceremony must wear a royal blue cap, gown and tassel. Cost for these is $27.50. Purchase from Herff Jones directly using Order Form you receive from BAS. Your cap and gown order will be sent to your address directly by Herff Jones. Store hours, address, phone # and other FAQs are on back of Order Form.

SLIDE SHOW at COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY: Upon completing all credits, students should visit the Counseling office, Room 508, to have their photos taken. A slide show is created with the photos and is presented for your family and friends before the ceremony begins. Students graduating at the end of the school year, need to go get their photos taken before Tuesday, May 23rd.

STUDENT SPEAKERS: If you are interested in auditioning to be
a student speaker at the graduation ceremony, please contact the Counseling office for
information. The application must be in to Sandra Paz, Room 507, by April 28, 2017.

SCHOLARSHIP: If you are interested in applying for a scholarship to help you with
higher education costs, please contact the Counseling office for information.
