one day it had occurred to me that I was helping everyone else accomplish their goals but not living out my own I had to change what I always did so I wouldn't get what I always got an incredible to our beautiful reflection of this community many of my fellow graduates I once felt lost with no Direction however I knew I wanted to take control of my future and possibly change my life my name is Robert long I am 58 years old not 18 years old I was at play in 2013 versus let me to a journey of 10 years and a trip to prison I snap back into reality in 22 I took charge of my own destiny I took the road to success 18 years old was 40 years ago when I was supposed to graduate from South High School one class kept me from walking across the stage and receiving my diploma a light went off in my head and if I did I would fulfil the emptiness I was depressed for 39 years you worked hard to earn your diploma and now you stand on the brink of a new chapter Elizabeth Allen Mana Lily Amanda Rutherford Eric Ramirez Leopoldo Vargas during struggle and adversity my instructor would say there is light at the end of the tunnel just take it one baby step at a time I would not have met without them work so hard to earn their opportunity and they're right across the stage your story your journey is far from over at this time my duty and responsibility to present to you the Bakersfield Adult School graduating class of 2023 congratulations Bakersfield Adult School class of 2023 this is our story our time and we we did a class of 2023 we now have more tools to be all that we can be but not graduating 40 years ago of course I was not part of any graduating class and it never right after tonight I could say I'm part of Bakersfield Adult School class of 2023
