GED and Bilingual GED Preparation

GED Preparation Classes:

The preparation class is free. This course will help you prepare for the GED. This course will review various course subjects, such as English, writing, reading, math, social studies, and science. This course includes practice GED exams, computer-assisted programs, individual tutoring, and counseling sessions. Our GED preparation courses are designed to prepare students to pass all sections of the GEd. All GED classes are in person; however, all GED coursework is available online through our Aztec LMS.

You MUST score a 239 on the CASAS assessment to enroll in this course.

Students must be 18 or older and no longer attending high school to enroll.

Students interested in the Bilingual GED prep courses are required to take the CASAS assessment, but are not required to score a 239 or higher.

The GED Tests: The GED test costs around $41 per subject or about $165 for the complete battery of tests. Additionally, there might be costs associated with preparatory materials. The GED preparation program does not include the fees for the tests. Students must pay for the test themselves.

The GED® test comprises four subjects, broken into separate exams. You don't have to take all four tests simultaneously - you can space them out however it suits you and go at your own pace. Here is an overview of what is on the GED by subject area.

Math - There are four main types of math on the GED exam. Basic math, Geometry, Algebra, Graphs, and Functions. 115-minute exam.

Science - The GED science test is a 90-minute exam with questions about earth and Space Science, Life Science, and Physical Science.

Language Arts/Writing - The RLA test assesses your ability to understand what you read and how to write clearly: Reading for meaning, Identifying and Creating Arguments, Grammar, and Language—150-minute exam.

Social Studies - To pass the social studies section of the test, you won't be required to memorize facts about each subject. Instead, it will be more about social studies as it relates to real-life applications, including Civics and Government (%0% of the section), U.S. History (20%), Economics (15%), Geography and the World (15%)—70-minute exam.
