The Bakersfield Adult School Children’s Center operates with a clear mission: to promote meaningful learning in a positive and safe environment that honors the uniqueness of every child. Rooted in our philosophy is a developmentally based approach to early care and education. We prioritize assessing each child's individual needs and ardently work towards nurturing their independence, enhancing their social skills, sparking their creativity, and ensuring their readiness for school. Beyond the child's individual growth, we also acknowledge and celebrate the distinctiveness of each family and their cultural background, understanding that it plays a pivotal role in the child's development.
 
Full-time State Preschool and Toddler Program
Day Program 2-5 Years Old
Services for Children M-F 7:30 am-3:30 pm
Office Hours: M-F 7:30 am-4:00 pm
Families must meet eligibility, need, and residency requirements:
  • Complete Application
  • Proof of Address
  • Income Verification for the previous month
  • Verification of Need
  • Birth Certificates for all children (under 18 years old)
  • Child’s Physical 
  • Immunization Record

The Bakersfield Adult School Children's Center is a haven for toddlers, offering a range of age-appropriate activities designed to stimulate their young minds and foster growth. Set within a nurturing and safe environment, the center boasts a committed, caring, and creative staff who are dedicated to the holistic development of each child. Recognizing the importance of family in a child's upbringing, the center also provides family development workshops that are culturally sensitive, ensuring inclusivity for all backgrounds. Parents can rest assured knowing the center is state-licensed and that their children are in the capable hands of certified permit teachers.
