Our Mission: To enrich the lives of each of our students by providing them with the tools for personal and professional success through high-quality instruction and relevant technical training while meeting the diverse needs of our community.
 
Bakersfield Adult School (BAS): Serving since 1917, we've impacted over 500,000 adult students. Whether you're improving your English skills, exploring U.S. history, enhancing employability, or completing high school, we're here to help.
 
Support Beyond Academics: We offer referrals to community agencies for personal challenges and guide your educational choices, including enrolling in Bakersfield College.
 
Diversity at BAS: In 24-25 we served over 6800 students, and celebrated 283 HDS, 58 Adults earned GED, 31 students received their citizenship. At Bakersfield Adult School, we believe every adult deserves a chance to fulfill their potential through education.
 
Classes are offered at five main hubs:
Mt. Vernon Campus – our central site, located on 40 acres alongside the Regional Occupational Center.
“F” Street – Health Careers Campus – specializing in medical training and career resources.
The Job Spot – a 21st-century, one-stop learning center Co-located with Bakersfield College, where students connect with both education and employment resources @1501 Panama Lane, Bakersfield, 93307
The Job Spot 2.0- A partnership with the Housing Authority, where the BAS Education and Workforce Hub are located on the first floor of an 85 unit low income housing development @1101 Kentucky St. Bakersfield 93307
Lerdo Correctional Facility – offering educational programs that support rehabilitation and second chances.

Among our many innovative programs are:
Café 1600, a Culinary Arts training center located at the America’s Job Center of California.
Recycling Lives, a logistics program in partnership with Kern Alliance for Business.
EEG Technician, a Neuro Diagnostic program that will help alleviate the EEG technician shortage in the area. Made possible by a partnership with a local Neurologist instrumental in bringing this program to Bakersfield.
Vocational Nursing program where we partner with Kern Medical giving our students the clinical advantage of training in a level II trauma and teaching hospital.
