The Bakersfield Adult School's Graduation Ceremony will take place June 2nd at Harvey Auditorium.
GED Preparation GED testing is now on line, however, we still have GED Prep classes for those who need review before taking the new GED. You may sign up for a GED prep class on Mondays or Tuesdays during the first few weeks of each quarter at 8:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. during the day, and Tuesday evenings ONLY at 5:30 p.m. in Room 505 on our BAS campus
High School Diploma A student can earn credit and receive a high school diploma through Bakersfield Adult School. Among students we serve are those 18 years and older who have dropped out of school or who have graduated from a high school in another country and are now seeking a high school diploma in English from a U.S. high school.
Independent Study ndependent Study is an educational program that provides the opportunity for adult students 19 and older, to complete Kern High School District's diploma requirements. Most courses (including elective credits) may be taken via Independent Study. We offer two types of Independent Study: online and traditional.
English as a Second Language The mission of the Bakersfield Adult School's English as a Second Language Department is to provide the language skills and opportunities to enrich the lives of our students by encouraging them to become life long learners and achieve personal success.
Job Training: Computer and Business Classes Classes include QuickBooks, Simulated Office Development, Accounting, Basic Business Skills, Job Readiness, Keyboarding, Machine Calculation, Record Keeping, Filing, Introduction to Computers, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access, Photoshop & Illustrator
Job Training: Health Careers Classes include Vocational Nurse, Medical Assistant, Nurse Assistant, Healthcare Support Occupations, Medical Billing and Coding, & Home Health Aide
Adult Basic Education Bakersfield Adult School provides classes to help students improve skills in reading, writing and math. Students who score below a 236 on the CASAS assessment will find Adult Basic Education classes beneficial. Also Adult Basic Education classes serve as a bridge between ESL classes and GED/ High School Diploma classes.
Older Adults We have 6 certificated teachers in the Older Adult Program and at 12 different facilities. Programs for older adults are designed to offer lifelong education that will provide opportunities for personal growth and development, community involvement, survival skills needed for self-maintenance and economic self-sufficiency.
Special Programs Classes for adult with disabilities - Bakersfield Adult School offers a variety of instructional programs to assist in meeting the needs of adults with disabilities in the community at the Bakersfield Association for Retarded Citizens (BARC).

Our philosophy is developmentally based early care and education that assesses the child's needs while fostering Independence Social Skills, Creativity, School Readiness, and Acknowledging the uniqueness of each family and their culture.
